Bees
The Brassica's yellow pollen grains are so heavy and sticky that they can not be picked up by the wind. The bee is the form of transporation. The bee sees this flower as a form of food-necter. The worker bee lands on a petal and thrusts her head deeply into the flower to reach the sweet nectar, sucking it up through a straw-like tongue. As she does this her body brushes up against the flower's anthers, and her hairs trap pollen.

First, the students drew what they thought the bee looked like. Then, we looked at a transparency of the bee and the students compared this bee to theirs. We talked about the different parts of the bee. The students created a KWL and share their thought. The students learned the different jobs the bee holds such as, worker bee, drone, and queen bee.
